Our 2018 Keynote Speaker, Dr. Antonella Poce, and the audience for the opening remarks. Friday, October 19th, 2018.
Our objective for the 2018 conference is to engage in a contemplation of the term “critical” within the context of reading, writing, and thinking, and by extension, engagement and action.
In an age increasingly defined by division and misinformation, how we teach the ability to be critical, to distinguish the reasonable and logical from the irrational an inconsistent seems a particularly imperative endeavor.
We welcome Dr. Antonella Poce, Associate Professor in Experimental Pedagogy at the University Roma Tre, as our keynote speaker.
Dr. Poce teaches Educational Research Methodology and Educational Writing Methods and Techniques. Her research concerns innovative teaching practices in higher education at national and international levels. In 2008, she was awarded as New Researcher of the Year by the Association for Educational Assessment in Europe. Dr. Poce has coordinated many pedagogical projects, such as "Podcasting as a Teaching and Learning Tool," "Contributions to the Definition of an Interdisciplinary Critical Technology," and "For a Critical Use of Technology in Education: How to Evaluate MOOCs," and she is the author of Verba Sequentur: Thinking and Writing for a Critical Development of Competences at Secondary School (2017).
Our conference will take place at the Berkeley College Midtown campus in NYC. Registration is available online.
